The post-bungy ritual: a half-pound lamb-and-beef patty with beetroot and a fried egg, eaten on the lakefront wall while the Remarkables pretend not to notice you. The forty-minute walk-up queue is part of the legend but not mandatory — the online order line exists and locals use it. Still excellent at 1am; arguably better.

The queue is Stockholm syndrome. Order online.

Good
The Wakatipu Stack is a legitimately great burger — the beetroot-and-egg call is correct — and eating it on the lakefront wall at sunset is proper Queenstown.
Bad
Forty minutes in a line for a burger is not a rite of passage, it's a failure of information: the online order line exists, locals use it, and the burger tastes identical without the folklore.
Verdict
Order on your phone, collect, walk to the wall; anyone romanticizing the queue is confusing patience with pilgrimage.
