Tasca da Glória

GraçaLisbon

8.6

A family tasca up the Graça hill where the chalkboard lists whatever Dona Amélia cooked that morning — usually a stewed thing, a grilled thing, and arroz de pato on Thursdays worth planning a week around. House wine comes in a jug and the bill rarely clears €15. No reservations, no English menu, and they wave off the couvert for you if you hesitate — which tells you everything.

Order this

  • Arroz de pato (Thursdays)
  • Peixinhos da horta
  • Pudim flan

The dishes reviewers keep coming back for. Ordering off-list is on you.

Plan your week around the Thursday duck rice

Good
Arroz de pato with a jug of house wine among Graça grandmothers, bill under €14 — and they waved off the couvert before I could fumble the Portuguese for it.
Bad
Eight tables and no reservations means a 1pm Thursday arrival is already a gamble, and the chalkboard waits for no one whose phrasebook is slow.
Verdict
Solo eaters and patient couples should climb the hill hungry on a Thursday; anyone needing an English menu and a booking will eat somewhere worse, sooner.
