Gyro Plateia

FiraSantorini

8.6

Two lanes back from Fira's caldera edge, a spit-and-counter operation wrapping pork gyros with proper tzatziki, tomatoes and a scandalous handful of fries in the pita, where the €4 price hasn't caught the island's fever. The owner remembers repeat customers by their order. There are exactly three barrel tables, it's cash only, and the after-midnight line in August is its own small festival.

The island's best price-to-joy ratio, by a mile

Good
A €4 gyros with fries in the pita, two lanes from cliffs charging €40 for the same sunset — by day three the owner had my order started when I rounded the corner.
Bad
Three barrel tables for the whole operation, cash only, and the post-midnight August line becomes its own small festival — bring coins and patience.
Verdict
Everyone bleeding money on the caldera should eat here nightly and recover; anyone who needs table service on holiday can keep funding the view economy.
