The rooftop tub in falling snow: worth the arithmetic

Good: Snow falling into geothermal steam while strangers became friends over the tub's edge — that hour justified the whole trip north. Sheepskin and lava rock everywhere the eye lands.
Bad: Iceland prices a splurge like a super-splurge, and our second-floor room got the lobby folk set through the floor until eleven on Friday. Ask for three or four.
Verdict: Couples marking an occasion should close their eyes and book; anyone who'd rather have five nights elsewhere than two here is also correct.
