The black-sand beach is a two-minute walk; the caldera is a 20-minute bus or scooter ride, which is exactly the trade that keeps your budget alive. There is no view to speak of and August nights carry beach-bar bass until midnight — the back rooms mostly escape it.

How to do Santorini without financing it

Good: Spotless room, bougainvillea breakfast terrace, black beach two minutes on foot — I did the whole island by bus and scooter and spent my savings on one caldera dinner, as intended.
Bad: August-adjacent beach-bar bass found my front room until midnight (the back rooms escape it), and there is no view here beyond honest whitewash.
Verdict: Budget solos and couples should sleep here and daytrip the rim; anyone whose Santorini is a caldera-view bathtub already knows this isn't it.
