Black Sand Pension

Guesthouse · Perissa · Santorini

8.3from 190 ratings

A whitewashed family pension behind the beach road in Perissa, with bougainvillea over the breakfast terrace and rooms that are simple, spotless and honestly priced. The black-sand beach is a two-minute walk; the caldera is a 20-minute bus or scooter ride, which is exactly the trade that keeps your budget alive. There is no view to speak of and August nights carry beach-bar bass until midnight — the back rooms mostly escape it.

Why it earns the score

How to do Santorini without financing it

Good
Spotless room, bougainvillea breakfast terrace, black beach two minutes on foot — I did the whole island by bus and scooter and spent my savings on one caldera dinner, as intended.
Bad
August-adjacent beach-bar bass found my front room until midnight (the back rooms escape it), and there is no view here beyond honest whitewash.
Verdict
Budget solos and couples should sleep here and daytrip the rim; anyone whose Santorini is a caldera-view bathtub already knows this isn't it.
