Autumn poplars, a private fire, and blessed silence

Good: Golden trees filling every window, a wood fire falling to embers as we fell asleep, and hosts who arranged a Milford flight with one sentence from us. The four-course dinners never repeated a note in five nights.
Bad: You are 20 minutes from everything, which is the entire design — but it means a sober-driver plan for any Queenstown evening, and the rate makes long stays a board decision.
Verdict: Couples celebrating anything should come in April and never leave the property; anyone wanting to stumble home from town nightlife booked the wrong postcode.
