Coconut Forest Basket Boat Ride

Hội An· Vietnam

7.0

You bob through water-coconut channels in a round bamboo basket while your paddler spins the boat, sings, and casts a demonstration fishing net. Kids adore it and the palm-frond grasshoppers they weave you are genuinely charming. Be honest with yourself about what this is: at midday dozens of boats jam the channels, several blast karaoke, and the whole lane expects tips at every turn. Go at 8am or skip it.

A karaoke flotilla with a tip bucket

Good
Our paddler wove the kids palm-frond grasshoppers they still guard like treasure, and the boat-spinning genuinely delighted everyone under twelve.
Bad
By 10:30am the channel was a traffic jam of baskets, three of them blasting competing karaoke, with a tip expectation surfacing at every bend. It felt less like a village visit than a toll road.
Verdict
Go at 8am with small kids and it's a charming hour; everyone else should spend the same money on the lantern workshop and keep their morning.
